Stephen paints predominantly in oils and during the past fifteen years has exhibited with major galleries in Ireland and the UK. During this period he has had seven successful one-man shows - one of which was exhibited in Luxembourg and Strasbourg in Europe. He exhibits annually in the Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts in Ireland.
The Waldock Art Gallery in Dublin, Ireland, commissions many paintings of Dublin's landmarks from Stephen. These include Grafton Street, St. Stephens Green, Dun Laoghaire Harbour, The Forty Foot, Sandycove, Seapoint, Bulloch Harbour, Dalkey Island, the Martello Towers and Joyces Tower, and the beach and chimneys at Sandymount. Stephen's work is highly regarded as investment art.
Corporate art collections now in possession of Stephen's work include The Bank of Ireland; Office of Public Works; European Investment Bank; Goff's International Bloodstock Sales; Jury's and Aer Lingus offices.
