Shane's introduction to art began at the College of Marketing and Design in Dublin, Ireland. During this time he began to use his illustrative style to produce innovative paintings in gouache and transparent watercolour.

Drawing on his knowledge of the landscape of West Cork and in particular, his fondness of the sea, he began to paint his highly coloured and often, humourous images of the area.

He has now widened his scope to the whole of Ireland, composing many paintings of Irish landmarks and well known buildings which depict the lighter side of the Irish. His works are widely bought and hang in many galleries throughout Ireland.
