 | Lucy Doyle at the Waldock Art Gallery in Dublin, Ireland
"If I had to describe myself as a painter I would say that I have a traditional approach to painting. I am very aware of the process of picture making. My work is structured around observational drawing and I use compositional devices developed and learnt through experience and by looking at past painters. I have spontaneity and originality that comes from a strong affinity for the decorative. This is combined with my love of colour and allows me to express myself in a unique and personal way."
Lucy spent four years during the late 70s and early 80s attending a degree course at the Sheffield College of Art. Since then she has had many solo and group exhibitions in Ireland, the UK, and throughout Europe. Today she is considered one of the leading contemporary artists in Ireland.
