 | Alan Kenny at the Waldock Art Gallery in Dublin, Ireland
Early in his career Alan was very successful as a landscape artist but recently his style has become more experimental. He has broadened his choice of subject matter to include, among many things, traditional music sessions and surreal landscapes.
In the following passages Alan describes his style:
"This structured style of painting was developed by me over a five year period. The compositions of this series of works were created in hundreds of thumbnail sketches. A selection of the various parts of these sketches were then assembled to create the most balanced and yet dynamic compositions. The colors of these paintings are carefully chosen and placed to complement and vibrate with each other.
With regard to the music paintings perspective has been largely ignored or exaggerated to enhance the illusion that the musicians are emerging from the canvas towards the viewer. The tonal harmony of these paintings is adjusted back and forth until the canvas sings to me."
Alan's work has sold widely in the USA, Ireland and Europe.
